Seawatch

Had a long day seawatching at St Marys today, good conditions but a lack of birds. Highlights were 2 Long-tailed Skuas, probably 3 more.

Grey Plover,
Whimbrel,
Arctic Skuas,
Great Skua,
Velvet Scoter
Common Scoter,
Teal,
Widgeon
Manx Shearwater

All passed in variable numbers, but passage dried up around midday. Plenty of good conversation with many fellow birders during the course of the day, but got quite cold by days end, still no Corys for moi :(

New Northumberland breeding bird.

Nice to see that Little Egret has been confirmed as an addittion to the Northumberland breeding birds.  http://ipinswildlifeblog.blogspot.co.uk/

I remember when these elegant birds were still a twitchable species, now a regular too our coastal pools.

What could be next, Bitten or Spoonbill perhaps.
